^^You know you are in the midwest when :: This is the view from your hotel room.^^
^^She danced like this the whole way down the aisle. It was unbelievable adorable!^^
^^The bride and her papa. She was stunning!^^
Saturday morning we got up bright and early to get packed and on the road to Dixon, IL for our friend Jen & Ian's wedding. I was so excited for this wedding and little road trip. I love driving through different parts of the country, going through small little towns and stopping at truck stops to grab food loaded with sugar. We got there with just enough time to get ready and catch the shuttle to the wedding. It was in the gorgeous White Pines State Park.
The venue was absolutely gorgeous!! It was a beautiful part of the park, surrounded by big stone walls, flowers and lots of trees. I would have picked that place in a heart beat. Jen looked absolutely stunning and I LOVED her dress! Her and Ian's vows were funny and heartfelt. You could literally see their love standing up there. It was beautiful and I think there is something to be said for a wedding that you can feel! The reception was in another part of the park in the lodge and we had dinner, drinks and danced. The cabins everyone had rented for the night were a quick walk away so as things at the reception wound down, we all made our way over to there for a big bonfire, more drinks and throwing lots of giant sparklers in the fire because even in our 30's we like to do stupid stuff like that.
It was a very rad night spent with some of the best people we know. We are so thankful that we got to be invited to Jen and Ian's special day and share their evening with them! Congrats Jen & Ian!
Side Note :: I'm a little disappointed in these photos and the lack of photos I took. I wish I would have pulled Jen and Ian aside to take some photos of them. I intended to take a TON more and once again I sit here and say "Dammit I need to learn to use my camera!!". One of these days I will get around to that. But, then I think there are times when it's more important to hang out and enjoy seeing the people you never get to see enough of and put the camera away. That's what I did. Fun won out over the camera. Sometimes if you don't do that, you miss out on all of the fun and with this group of our friends, you really don't want to miss out.
